The Provincial Health Office and the Municipal Government of Asingan led by Mayor Heidee Chua thru the Rural Health Office (RHO) under Dr. Ronnie Tomas, spearheaded a Stakeholders Meeting for Rabies Prevention & Control Program today.
Participants comprised of barangay captain, barangay health workers (BHWs) were provided knowledge on the epidemiology of rabies, categorization of an animal bite, features of Republic Act 9482 or the Anti-Rabies Act and Republic Act 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act and in-depth understanding of responsible pet ownership.
Rural Health Officer Dr. Ronnie Tomas disclosed the plan for the establishment of an Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) in Asingan. Also, during the open forum, strict implementation of the municipal ordinance on rabies, animal registration, provision of dog/animal pound and other animal-related issues and concerns were addressed.
Other guests who showed support and joined the program were Ms. Ira Chua, who represented in behalf of Mayor Heidee Chua, Vice-Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr , Sangguniang Bayan Committee Chair for Health Councilor Marivic Salagubang Robeniol, Councilor Dolores Abalos Tabin, ABC-Asingan Leticia R. Dollente, Dr. Anton Soliven (Department of Agricutulture) & DOH Representatives.
